Alan Jones to speak at mining rally

16 Nov, 2011 12:00 AM
ORGANISERS of the Our Land, Our Water, Our Future rally being held in Corbett Gardens on Saturday have finalised the itinerary for the two-hour event.

The rally is being held to inform the public about coal and coal seam gas mining activities in the shire and elsewhere.

Southern Highlands Coal Action Group convener Peter Martin will introduce guest speaker which included Alan Jones, Senator Bill Heffernan, Drew Hutton from Lock the Gate, Tim Duddy from Caroona Coal Action Group and Goulburn MP Pru Goward.

Deputy Mayor Larry Whipper will also speak, along with landowner Kathy Roche and Jeremy Buckingham MLC.

A representative of Hume Coal initially said they would attend the event, but they have not been included in the itinerary.

There may also be opportunities for questions from the audience, however this would depend on time.

Proceedings begin at 11am. If it is raining, the rally will be held in Bowral Memorial Hall, which is just down the street.
