Record crowds are expected to turn out for ANZAC Day services in Mittagong tomorrow, with more than 200 local veterans expected to march.
"The Mittagong RSL sub-branch dawn service will be held from 5.30am, with marchers assembling at Church Lane, near St Stephen's Anglican church, at 5.15am," Col Wilkinson from the Mittagong RSL sub-branch said.
"Marchers for the main service will be meeting at the Visitor's Information Centre in Mittagong at 10.15am."
Mr Wilkinson encouraged as many people as possible to attend this year's ANZAC Day services.
"ANZAC Day is extremely important because it acknowledges those who served in war and, in many cases, paid the supreme sacrifice," he said.
"We are expecting more than 200 members of the Mittagong RSL sub-branch to march on the day."
Mr Wilkinson said ANZAC Day services had been attracting bigger crowds every year across the Highlands.
"It's very pleasing to see the number of younger people who are coming out for the services. It's great that they remember the events of the past," he said.
"I think it may be because Australians are currently serving overseas and the public is more aware of those who served their country in the past.
"Students from Frensham, St Michael's and Mittagong Public School will be attending the services and laying wreaths."
