A moment of madness: Moss Vale family hit by young driver

19 Feb, 2008 12:58 PM
A family trip to the local McDonald’s went horribly wrong for a Moss Vale family on Saturday night when a woman and her two children were allegedly run down by an allegedly intoxicated and unlicensed driver at Sutton Forest.

Police say the two boys, aged five and nine, were dragged under the Hyundai Accent for 15 metres. The 34-year-old woman was flung onto the bonnet of the vehicle while the family attempted to cross a pedestrian crossing.

A side mirror of the car also clipped a 16-year-old teenager as she tried to use the crossing.

The Moss Vale teenager, who was not related to the mother and two children, escaped with minor head injuries and was treated by ambulance officers at the scene.

Police had not charged the 16 year-old driver, from Sutton Forest at time of press.
