$40,000 rides off

POLICE are seeking the public’s help after horse riding equipment worth almost $40,000 was stolen in two separate incidents in Mittagong.

In the first incident, thieves entered a horse riding school on Kells Creek Road near Mittagong on Friday night, October 13.

They forced entry into the stable area and removed a number of saddles and other riding equipment worth more than $20,000.

The stolen goods include a black Keifer saddle, a brown Keifer saddle, a brown County saddle and a black Wintec saddle.

In the second incident, thieves entered a property on Medway Road near Berrima, sometime between 12 midnight and 6am on October 15.

The unknown people forced entry into the stable area and removed nine riding saddles worth $19,500.

Police are asking the public to contact them if they saw any suspicious activity on Kells Creek Road on the night of October 13, or Medway Road on October 15.

Police are also asking people to contact them if they know the whereabouts of the saddles and riding equipment.

All inquiries will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.

There’s a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Meantime, Bowral Police have booked eight people for drinkdriving on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

Two men, including one picked up in the Merrigang Street carpark, recorded high range readings.
