$23,510 to build lookout near Bowral

27 Mar, 2006 07:20 AM
Plans for a lookout at Oxley Hill have received a boost of $23,510.

The lookout, to be built to commemorate the area's Indigenous history and 100 years of Rotary, has received funding through the Australian Government Regional Partnerships program.

Announcing the grant, Member for Hume Alby Schultz said the funds would help the Rotary Club of Berrima District prepare the site, build a stone wall and seating and to plant out the area.

"The site overlooks the township of Bowral and will give tourists and locals the opportunity to reflect on the role of local Indigenous people in the community, encourage people to work for the good of their community and highlight the achievements of Rotary over the past 100 years," he said.

Mr Schultz congratulated the local community for working together to access Regional Partner-ships program funding.

Rotary Club of Berrima District president John Macpherson said the announcement of the grant followed other important steps in bringing the project to fruition.
