A $10,000 reward is on offer for information leading to conviction of the robbers who stole 10 Angus Bulls from a Kangaloon property ten days ago.
The bulls, worth an estimated $40,000, disappeared from the property on March 16 or 17, with no trace of the thieves, or the bulls.
High prices gained at cattle sales around Australia have increased the incidence of cattle theft, according to local police.
The owner of the Kangaloon property said he was hoping the reward and hopeful conviction would help reduce the occurrence of cattle theft.
“The best way to prevent it from happening again is to find the culprits,” he said.
“If the people are apprehended it will act as a deterrent.”
Police investigations are continuing in to the robbery, and Senior Constable Glen Stroud made a plea for anyone with any information to please contact police.
“We hope someone out there is willing to come forward and assist police with our enquiries,” he said.
Senior Constable Stroud also claimed the robbery has caused more than just financial problems for the cattle owner.
“It’s his livelihood and reflects on his ability to supply cattle for prominent sales,” Snr Constable Stroud said.
“If he can’t supply, people go elsewhere.
“It affects his ability to be able to supply his stock.”
And although no further cattle theft has been reported since the Kangaloon robbery, Senior Constable Stroud offered a word of warning for local cattle owners.
“You’ve got to remain vigilant,” he added.
“The old days when you could leave your car and house unlocked have certainly gone, unfortunately.”
Anyone with any information regarding the theft is urged to contact local police.
